GUIDED OVERLAND TOURS

We will guide you to incredible viewpoints with views over the Kalahari desert and plains and the Mabuasehube Pans. We are almost guaranteed to encounter the famous lions of Mabuasehube. We have created an off-the-beaten track, off-road tour on gravel, twee-spoor, and sand tracks. You will need a 4×4 vehicle and the tour might not be suitable for an off-road camping trailer. All the campsites are rustic with a few that are wild camps with no minimal facilities.

We are excited to take you on this 8-day tour into the heart of the Kgalagadi!

Desert Dream

We will meet on Sunday at Molopo Lodge just outside the National park and from there travel onwards towards and then through to the Mabuasehube conservation area. The tour will take us through some fantastic desert areas and ends the following Sunday outside the park.

The tour is self-catering, but we will propose a menu closer to the time. You will need to bring your as much firewood as possible.

The tour is self-catering, but we will propose a menu closer to the time. You will also receive a detailed tour plan and itinerary with maps closer to the time.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

  • A fully serviced reliable vehicle in very good condition
  • Enough fuel for 450km (mainly off-road, thick sand driving)
  • All your water, meals, drinks and snacks
  • Fire Wood (Lots!)
  • A great sense of humour...
  • First Aid Kit as per your requirements
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • A passport that is valid for at least 6 months with minimum 2 blank visa pages for entry and exit stamps.
  • Children below the age of 18 will also need valid passports, certified unabridged birth certificates and a letter of consent from the other parent should the minor be travelling with only one parent.
  • If the vehicle is your own, a certified copy of vehicle registration/vehicle licence papers is acceptable at the border posts. This must be accompanied with a letter from the bank giving you authorisation to take the vehicle across the border, and must indicate dates. Both the bank letter and copies of license papers should be signed by a Commissioner of Oaths.
  • If the vehicle is rented or not registered in your name, you will need an affidavit from the South African police giving you permission from the rental company or owner to take the vehicle across a Botswana border post. Both this letter and the registration documents need to be signed by a Commissioner of Oaths.
  • Your vehicle must have a ZA sticker, which designates that they are foreign vehicles which were registered in South Africa. AA Accredited Sales Agent stores and outdoor retailers like Safari Centre or Outdoor Warehouse will have it available for purchase
  • Third Party Insurance valid for 90 Days
  • A great sense of humour...

WHAT DO WE SUPPLY?

  • First Aid Kit as per your requirements
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • A passport that is valid for at least 6 months with minimum 2 blank visa pages for entry and exit stamps.

Also, please bring a great sense of adventure; this is going to be epic!

  • A CATHSSETA qualified guide with many years’ experience
  • Qualified Wilderness First Responder First Aider (Level 3) and advanced First Aid Kit
  • Pre-paid Camping, Park and all Entrance Fee
  • VHF Radios for inter-vehicle communication
  • Advanced Recovery gear

Also, please bring a great sense of adventure; this is going to be epic!

PRICE

We are doing another one! The tour price is R 7 950 per person sharing; half-price for children under 12 and children under 6 are free (at the time of the tour). Single supplement is R 10 000. Pricing for non-SADC members available on request. We are excited to take you on this 8-day tour into the heart of the Kgalagadi!
